Atmospheric Scientist with an interest in stratospheric ozone and its relation to climate change.

Research Summary

Research includes: (1) analysing atmospheric measurements of ozone by satellite- and ground-based instruments, to understand long and short term trends; (2) making halocarbon measurements with lightweight instrumentation; (3) studying the interactions of the tropical atmosphere.

1994-present: joint coordinator, EC FP6 Integrated Project SCOUT-O3 with Prof John Pyle.
1990 - present: Scientist (1990 - 1995) and Head (1995 - present) European Ozone Research Coordinating Unit.
1984 - 1989: PhD University of California at Irvine,followed by postdoctoral research until 1990

Other Professional Activities

Chair and member of Core Groups for European field campaigns including the Validation of International Satellites and Study of Ozone Loss (VINTERSOL) and the Third European Stratospheric Experiment on Ozone (THESEO)
Chair, SPARC (Stratospheric Processes and the Role in Climate) Panel on Ozone Trends
Involvement as lead author, author, reviewer and scientific coordinator of a number of scientific assessments including WMO/UNEP Ozone Assessments, IPCC reports and European assessments.
